As I listen to Barack Obama try and defend his wife from the political attacks that she suffered after making political mistakes stumping for her husband,

The things that he says, sound sexist to me. He is using her on the one hand to stump for him politically, yet doesn't want anyone to debate with her mistakes and mis-steps.

This feels and seems a lot like the same mistakes that Bill Clinton made in the early 90's that left Hillary's competence in question.

EDIT-ADDITION - Just wanted to point out that the comments I make in the video are the sentiments that I hear when Barack Obama tells people to 'lay off my wife' and that he would never dream of making a political issue about political comments made by other candidates wives. When I try and understand what he is saying and what he is thinking, I can only come the conclusion that he is either 1. just using his wife's obscure political status as potential first lady and full time political speech stumper and public figure to get her out of trouble when she screws up publicly or 2. he feels that she as a woman does not deserve the equal status of men, or 3. there is some combination of 1 and 2 working together. I suspect it is heavily weighted with point 1, but laced with some deep rooted sexist beliefs that Obama himself has not come to grips with yet, just as many of his male Presidential candidate predecessors failed to do.
